931 managers

How to read the manager directory

This page lists 931 managers, sorted by last name, with the codes of the teams each one managed, the career won-lost record and the winning percentage. Team codes are the record-book identifiers for a club in a given era, so a manager who ran the same franchise before and after a move shows two codes. The card with the most wins belongs to Connie Mack, at 3731-3948. Among managers with long careers, Rube Foster shows one of the highest percentages, 0.652. Candy Jim Taylor managed under the most team codes: AB2, BBB, CAG, CEG, CEL, CTS, DM, DS, HG, ID, MRS, NEG, SLS, TT, WEG.

Short stints are listed too: interim managers who ran a club for a handful of games appear alongside career managers, so a percentage near .000 or 1.000 usually reflects very few games. The directory includes Negro Leagues managers from the seasons MLB now counts as major league. Search by name to filter the cards. A manager page adds the season-by-season table with games, wins, losses, finish and whether the manager was also playing, plus a link to the playing career where one exists.
