September 1 in the record

Leading the September 1 birthdays is Jim O'Rourke, first of 25 players shown. The HOF tag marks Jim O'Rourke. From Jim O'Rourke in 1850 to Antwone Kelly in 2003, the births cover a long stretch of the game. Behind Jim O'Rourke come Rico Carty (b. 1939, .299 avg, 204 HR) and Garry Maddox (b. 1949, .285 avg, 117 HR). September 1 birthplaces outside the United States include D.R., Venezuela, Japan, and Aruba. The highest-ranked hitter born on September 1, Jim O'Rourke, carries a .310 avg, 62 HR line, and the highest-ranked pitcher, Bill Ricks, went 21-15, 3.23 ERA. The span for Eduard Bazardo, Shota Imanaga, and Andrew Morris ends in a dash, meaning no last game is recorded. The September 1 memorial list names 22 figures, beginning with Pinky Whitney. The memorial list continues with Bill Lindsay (1891–1914) and Joe Connolly (1884–1943). Deaths on the list run from Al Thake's in 1872 to John Gamble's in 2022. Names are ordered by a career-impact score that weighs Hall of Fame status and career totals, which is why Jim O'Rourke is listed first.
