Cy Young Award

About the Cy Young Award list

Baseball Data Hub's records of the Cy Young Award begin in 1956 and reach 2025. Don Newcombe heads the list chronologically, in 1956. For 2025, the table lists Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal. The name that recurs most is Roger Clemens (1986, 1987, 1991, 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2004). The list also repeats Randy Johnson (1995, 1999, 2000, and 2001), Greg Maddux (1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995), and Steve Carlton (1972, 1977, 1980, and 1982). Randy Johnson held the award in each season from 1999 to 2002. The League column shows separate American and National League winners from 1967 on. By the Team column, the Los Angeles Dodgers appear more often than any other club on the Cy Young Award list. Going back from there, the list reads Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal (2024), Gerrit Cole and Blake Snell (2023), Sandy Alcantara and Justin Verlander (2022), Corbin Burnes and Robbie Ray (2021), and Trevor Bauer and Shane Bieber (2020). The Cy Young Award was shared in 1969. More Cy Young Award rows fall between 2010 and 2019 than in any other ten-year stretch of the list. Jim Lonborg (1967) heads the AL side of the list. Mike McCormick (1967) heads the NL side of the list. The Cy Young Award also appears on every winner's profile, under awards.
