About the TSN Pitcher of the Year list

The TSN Pitcher of the Year list on this page runs from 1944 to 2024. The earliest winners were Hal Newhouser and Bill Voiselle. For 2024, the table lists Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal. No one appears more often than Roger Clemens, listed in 1986, 1991, 1997, 1998, and 2001. The list also repeats Greg Maddux (1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995), Sandy Koufax (1963, 1964, 1965, and 1966), and Steve Carlton (1972, 1977, 1980, and 1982). Greg Maddux won every year from 1992 through 1995. From 1944, the list carries one winner per league in most years. More TSN Pitcher of the Year winners played for the Cleveland Indians than for any other team in the table. Earlier recent winners were Gerrit Cole and Blake Snell (2023), Sandy Alcantara and Justin Verlander (2022), Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer (2021), Shane Bieber and Jacob deGrom (2020), and Gerrit Cole and Jacob deGrom (2019). The TSN Pitcher of the Year was shared in 2012. The TSN Pitcher of the Year list is densest between 2000 and 2009. Hal Newhouser (1944) heads the AL side of the list. Bill Voiselle (1944) heads the NL side of the list. Player names link to full career pages, and the TSN Pitcher of the Year shows in each winner's awards table there.
